classes!

Still a little shaky as to when everything happens, but I've got what I wanted, yay! (Not a surprise, but still.)

6.001 - Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs - lecture T/Th 10-11; recitation W/F, section 3 10-11
7.013 - Introductory Biology - ESG so I don't know yet
8.02T - Physics II (e&m) - M/W 12-2, F 12-1 - likely to change because the MAS program people want us all in the same lecture
18.03 Differential Equations - also ESG & unknown
MAS.111 - Introduction to Doing Research in Media Arts & Sciences - lecture F 3-5

Here's hoping that the ESG class times don't end up before 6.001, because if I have to go do bio at 9 I think I'll cry. -- Wow, it's amazing how quickly I've gotten spoiled by this whole college thing. Six months ago I was in the car by 7:30 at the latest every weekday and barely whining about it at all...

what's the normal courseload for second semester freshman year? The only measure I have is Donovan, and I KNOW that one's off.

Well, unless you got sophomore standing, you're on a 57-unit credit limit. So typically, four twelve-unit classes (or a fifteen-unit if you want to take 6.001), often including 8.02, 7.01something, and a HASS, plus a six or nine-unit class if you can find a nice one. Or maybe the six-unit class is your HASS, as in the example above.

Actually MAS.111 isn't HASS that I know of -- I'm sort of not taking a HASS this semester, which makes me a little sad because I like humanities, but for various reasons I wanted to take everything on the list now rather than later, so it looks like I'll just be taking two some other semester. Ah well.

Yup, what she said. *points up* About sophomore standing -- I suspect you've got loads and loads of AP credit, so you could probably pull it off if you wanted to. Of the 17 freshmen on my floor I think there are 3 or 4 who are taking sophomore standing so they can do six classes, but most of us are only taking four-ish. (Of course, this is also the floor where 13 out of 17 frosh are taking 6.001, so we might be a bizarre sample set...)

I flinch just thinking about Adam's courseload. :P Just -- wow.

Thanks for the heads up...I realize that MIT isn't the place to go to "take it easy" in college, but I might stick with four courses until I get the hang of the whole life away from home, not the top of the academic heap thing.

Which is definitely a smart option -- there's so much else going on here anyways to do -- plus you don't really need to stress about that till this time next year anyways. ;)
