So I guess the Scifi Channel is starting new Stargate episodes of both flavors July 14th? I like Atlantis, I've watched all the old episodes of it, but I just can't bring myself to even try catching up on SG-1. Anyone got particular recommendations to offer, with an eye to (a) things that will clue me in for season 10/wtf was going on in season 9 and (b) things that are hilarious/awesome? I have a long list of episodes from a few friends which I will edit in to this if I ever find it again (ah, total lack of organizational skills, my eternal nemesis). What I've seen so far is most of season 9 and, uh, that one with the time loop and the froot loops.

Life is pretty quiet. Work's going decently -- I finally have some actual direction to go with, so I feel a little less like I'm just vaguely flailing at the code and hoping things magically happen on their own. Headed home this weekend for an aunt's wedding. Have started playing (and am enjoying) Civilization 4. Am only pining a little. [livejournal.com profile] beat_the_beaver and I have eeevil plots for painting murals. And I have a whole pile of books to get through as well as the time to do it in -- the world is a pretty awesome place.

And (meme! meme!) I'm sure you'll all be hugely surprised to hear my speech is totally Massachusetts-biased. 3% on this thing... heh.

You have to see 9.13 ("Ripple Effect") if you haven't already, because it's my favorite.
Other than that, I say don't worry about it. Because, see, they did this time travel episode as the season eight finale, so everyone kind of died, and I'm bitter and have decided that nothing before season nine counts anyway.

Oooh, I've seen the one before and the one after but not that one. Thanks for the rec. :D

I spent most of season 9 having conversations like "who's that?" "he's evil, shhhh!", feeling vaguely baffled, and wondering how much longer till Galactica was on (four more months, gr!). :P So I feel like there must be some Significant Backstory I'm missing somewhere...

Basically, with all the other bad guys defeated, the SG1 team stumbles across the Ori, a race of ascended beings who exist uncharted on the other side of the universe. The Ori keep humans in dark age-esque tech. in order to keep their FAITH absolute.

You can use your imagination for the rest concerning the athiestic nature of the show.

We're constructing a celtic knot/firebreathing snake -- the knot's structure looks like this (http://web.mit.edu/gangelo/Public/Mural.jpg) (but that picture doesn't have the firebreathing in it). It's going to be awesome.
