Today I did half a 14.01 test and then went caroling for four hours. It was seriously amazing, I got to be the only alto who actually knew the Carol of the Bells and felt amazingly competent, and I talked to more people who don't live on 4th East than I have in quite some time. (Which is not to say I don't love 4E -- I do -- sometimes a little too much, that's all.)

And then at the end we passed some Christmas display that prompted someone to comment that Santa's not paying the elves enough, and I thought about how Santa could get away with it 'cause he's got an effective monopsony on elf labor, and then I thought about all the studying I really should be doing. It's all okay though 'cause I have all the rest of tonight to study and I'm pretty sure that given the supply curve for elf labor with respect to wages and also the price of presents I could figure out how many elves Santa should hire anyways.

Carol of the Bells is my favorite Christmas song. Particularly the Trans-Siberian Orchestra version.

It's so pretty and so exciting. :D And fantastically fun to sing too, with all the changes in volume and the contrasts and the buildup...
