Tonight was totally going to be the night I got work done and then got lots of sleep.

Instead I spent five hours goofing around with karaoke with -- let's see, at some point or other probably at least half of the floor was involved. It was fantastic. There's nothing quite so freeing and enabling as expecting that you and everyone else in the room sucks. (So if you 5th Easters heard the utter cacophany in Goodale between 9pm and 3am and were wondering... yeah.) We conned nearly everyone who wandered through into singing, including our GRT and one of the hall semighosts and a few people who normally refuse to sing outright. And I think they had fun. Mmm, peer pressure. Whee!

It's been ages since I really sang so I sucked a lot, of course. We were playing Karaoke Revolution, which judges you based on your pitch and to some extent on rhythm -- I'm decent with pitch matching on songs I know, but I have this bad habit of swooping up or down to notes that both screws me over with respect to this game's scoring system and used to earn me lectures from my chorus director Back In The Day. I miss singing. A number of people were really surprisingly good though... I'm remembering how at some point last year we ended up with an impromptu slug jam session in the music room, two electric guitars and an acoustic and the piano and one or two violins and a variety of voices, a semi-strange selection but lots of fun. We need to do it again... we're just all so hosed these days. (How much longer till IAP?)

So now I need to do the postlab for 6.002 over vacation, as well as 6.170 tooling and, oh yeah, the 6.002 pset. So vacation will be the time when I get done and then get lots of sleep. Hey, can't be *more* of a miss at those goals than tonight was...
