Nov. 20th, 2006 03:50 amIt's interesting. When I write things online, I do so with the knowledge that the internet is in fact a public place. LJ isn't something I go to any length to keep disconnected from real life -- nor are any of the other random forums or whatever I have accounts on -- and yet there's often a moment of panic when I realize there's another potential route from one to another; for example, I've just realized this is google-able via a username I occasionally use elsewhere, much to my surprise, meaning that it's totally findable to a few folks (who shan't be named) (should they choose to indulge in a bit of stalking) who I hadn't really pictured running across it. Totally not the end of the world, just a really odd realization and a reminder that if I want to rant without paying attention to the potential of an audience then that's what private entries are for, or, y'know, not putting stuff on the internet at all. :p
This is pretty cool: generate color schemes via sampling of image search results on a specific word.
I'm taking the skating phys ed class this quarter, conclusions: ice skating is pretty cool. Ice skating backwards is very cool. Turning around without losing momentum? Less cool. At least in my world right now. I see other people do it and it looks dead easy and elegant; I do it and I pretty much fall over. (But it's awesome when it works.) Going backwards exercises muscles I've never had ache before (except *maybe* a little from dancing at recent 4e parties): it revolves around shifting your weight from one foot and hip to the other, and pushing off backwards alternately with either foot. Which is, again, exciting and really neat when it works. I wore a skirt on Monday just because I thought it'd be fun to see the effect -- really neat, the swirling lends another physical indication and lingering effect of weight shifts and changing directions, I actually found myself *more* aware of what I was doing than when I'm just in jeans and can look down and watch each action. It's really a bitch when I fall down though... probably won't do it again until I'm pretty sure I know what I'm doing.
