new school photos

There was nothing to do, as expected, so: here they are. With my own brand of lame brilliant and witty commentary, of course.

Wowie wow, the new school is BIG! My high school was pretty small. I'm counting rooms in my head, and including the trailers, we had about 20 classrooms. And that's really pushing it. There were rumors of a new science building once, but instead they keep getting more portibles. *shrug*

Looks nice, though.

Yes, it's huuuuuuuge! I'm about over getting totally lost, but it's still pretty crazy. They're holding orientations for everyone this year, as opposed to just freshmen, to get people at least a little used to the new building...

Done. :)

Really? Cool.

Yes, really. I noticed the Lincoln-Sudbury thing.

I work in Concord...which is close.

Nice shots, as you said, very escher-esque.

One question though:
"Just like the old one, it'll be fueled by caffeine."
Will soda be sold before 12:00 in the new school?

I never really understood that rule. Who would vote for it? Why? It's not like you couldn't get around it in a million ways, but just made things less convenient.

And how long does it take to get from one side of the school to the other? On a crowded day?

Actually, I'm consumed with jealousy of the coming classes that'll have access to this place. You know what I think wold be a cool thing to do with the new school? Have a race from end to end. Four to Twenty people studying the diagrams, mapping out their route, then meeting at the starting line one day. The prize could be... a case of Pimp Juice (http://www.bevnet.com/reviews/pimpjuice/). Nothing refreshes similarly.

Sorry to have gone on to such a different topic. But... do you think that would be at all feasible?

[identity profile] godream.livejournal.com 2004-07-01 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
*g* Probably not, but hey, that's what dunkin donuts is for, right? Personally I blame the rule on some big administration ten zillion layers of red tape separated from any actual kids. But it was frustrating nonetheless.

One side to the other on a crowded day: well, there haven't actually been any crowded days yet, you see. If you had gym in the bottom of C pod followed by science in the top of A, or vice versa, you'd definitely definitely be late. How late, I'm not sure -- my sense of time and distance kind of sucks. But late. Five or ten minutes at least depending on how good at crowd-avoidance you are, I'd guess.

That whole paragraph was an excuse to link to Pimp Juice, wasn't it? ;) It wouldn't be a very amusing race if you were just going from the front door of A to the back door of C, but if it was the upper corner of A and opposite lower corner of C, that could get interesting. I think it'd be even better with a bunch of remote checkpoints thrown in here and there. So far as diagrams go, the smallest map I've seen of this place is 10 pages, so it could be quite a route...

Yeah, it'd be from the bottom of A to the top of B and to the bottom of C again. Or maybe from the bottom of A just to the top of C. It'd have to work in the awesome stairs.

My question, I guess, is whether you think [people] could get away with this, or whether [they] would all be rounded up and arrested or something.

[identity profile] godream.livejournal.com 2004-07-08 11:25 am (UTC)(link)
If ... people ... were to try to do this at the moment, it'd be difficult due to, for instance, the fact that things are STILL being painted (or were at this time last week, which was when I was last in the building...) so random stairways and such are taped off. (Unless you consider that just an added challenge.) And the construction types would doubtless be none too happy about the fast-moving traffic.

However -- I suspect if the hypothetical people in question were moving fast enough, and only did it once, others would be temporarily stunned and confused and if the people got out quickly and avoided the lower bits of A pod, which is where most of the administration hangs out, then they might get away with it. Maybe. *shrugs*

And the Pimp Juice (http://www.bevnet.com/reviews/pimpjuice/) was only an afterthought.
