From this evening's physics assignment: While watching the crane in operation, an observer mentions to you that for a given load there is a maximum angle theta_max that the crane arm can make with the horizontal without tipping the crane over. Is this correct? ... Later that week, while watching the same crane in operation, a different observer mentions to you that there is a maximum load the crane can lift without tipping, and you can find that maximum load by observing the minimum angle theta_min that the crane arm makes with the horizontal. Is this correct?

All right, so extra credit: Even later that week, you find yourself watching the crane again. What kind of sick fascination do you have with this machinery? Is your obsession with the strength and angle of the crane arm compensating for something? Do you exude some strange vibes that scream out to strangers, "Please, tell me random anecdotes about crane arms! I will listen and consider seriously, even if you're not even right!" Do you collect these bizarre factoids? Do you ever think you'll actually need to know this? Do you just not want to go home and do your physics homework?

I think the wind blew your physics homework onto the crane arm and it got stuck. You're plotting to tip it over so that you can reach your homework. It's due on Monday.

"there is a maximum load the crane can lift without tipping... why do you ask?"
"Oh, just curious." *shifty eyes*

Right, and then you start just casually drawing force diagrams... LOL!

Look at all your new icons! Impressive variety. :)

Physics people do strange things...

like major in Physics.

hahahahahhahaa!!!

that was laugh-inducing!

p.s. fountain this year has so many people. its a bit crazy-not that it wasn't before-but everyone has even more side conversations and its hard to keep control. but that's okay because its not my job to do so. its EMILY'S!!
heh heh.
otherwise: the annoying members continue to be that way
and there's someone who always puts her feet up on the table which i think is obnoxious and i might have to SNAP at her if she does it again. i wonder if she'll see this comment!

Haha, poor Emily. My brother used to sit in the main computer lab and do homework while the meeting was going on... he'd almost always inform me afterwards that he heard me yelling at -- er, leading -- the meeting, through the closed door *and* his headphones. And I seem to recall getting teasing comments from Felix and Brendon that one time they stayed in the annex programming through the meeting... though I think that was more about taking ourselves an itty bitty bit seriously. Aw, memories. Are you guys now meeting in Mr. Ray's classroom, C3somethingorother? I know that's where the eMac with the right software ended up... But anyways, I'm glad to hear there's interest. Even if it's disruptive interest. :D

You could just write a scathing poem about people who always put their feet up on the table. :P
