Somehow, I don't think "Interview with the Vampire" was intended to be nearly as funny as I found it. A few of the many, many things that cracked me up: every time Louis and Lestat pulled the good cop/bad cop parenting routine on Claudia the eight-year-old vampire, along with nearly every time someone got killed, every time someone waxed poetic, with danger signs being lines involving "my dark angel", "mortal passion", "the dark gift", "immortal kiss" -- I think I wasn't looking for a movie that took itself quite this seriously. :P When it was (finally) over I decided I was going to go watch some Buffy in order to restore my faith in vampires, but I got distracted, as usual. Tomorrow. How did it get to be 2am all of a sudden?

I dunno...Interview with a Vampire had its flaws, the transition from book to movie could have been smoother, but I like it a lot better than Buffy. Maybe because I read the book first.

Hm. I haven't read the book, and I'm fully willing to believe it's better. (Although from the movie and what I've heard of Anne Rice, I may have read [and, er, written] enough horrible angsty poetry to be a little too jaded an audience for it. But mostly what I've heard about is her more recent stuff, and that her work went downhill after she got rid of her editor. *shrugs*)
