... Not nearly as exciting as you might have assumed from the subject. Fireworks, the photoshop-like graphics program, I mean.

The first quote is by someone named Christina Petrowsky, the second the author Albert Camus, and the third from a song by Robyn Hitchcock, whoever that is. I just googled for "autumn is" and that's what I came up with. *shrugs*

I want to hear opinions of the leaf/flower graphic. Can you see the two separate images? Can you only see them because I just made you look for them?

Very nice. I'm jealous. I want this program! (Is it something you have to buy? Is it expensive?)

In answer to your question: yes and no. I knew that it was a leaf, but I didn't see the flower til you pointed it out. But I still think it works because I remember thinking that the leaf looked very flowery.

Thanks. :) Yeah, Fireworks is pretty pricey (http://shop.macromedia.com/dr/v2/ec_MAIN.Entry17c?CID=0&PN=5&SP=10007&SID=46165&PID=590889&DSP=&CUR=840&PGRP=0&CACHE_ID=0). (Though there's always the 30-day free trial version (http://www.macromedia.com/downloads/).) I was lucky enough to be able to "borrow" it from my school (they weren't really using all those windows licenses anyways...) as part of the Studio MX group of programs, though I'm sure there're even less legal versions floating around on Kazaa and such. Not, of course, that I would ever advocate using pirated software. *shrugs* A casual googling for "free graphic editing software" pulls up this page (http://www.freebyte.com/graphicprograms/) with links to all sorts of different stuff... I haven't the faintest if any of it is any good, but there it is.

*goggles* WOW. That is expensive. Thanks for doing all that work to find stuff out for me though, I appreciate it! Since I run Linux, the image program I use is called GIMP. It doesn't do animated pictures as far as I know, so I will definately be checking that link out.

You run Linux? Wow, geek envy. I haven't the courage to take on the world of the text prompt (not to mention, picture the family reaction at one) but with operating systems running in at least the same price neighborhood as Fireworks, I do wish I knew more about fun-with-open-source. Wicked cool. :)

And hey, thanks yourself for relieving my boredom by prompting that (all of two minutes of) research. Believe me when I say I had absolutely nothing better to do today.

I blame Jason. He got me started with Linux about two years ago. I must say, it helps to have a computer science major in the house when you run into trouble. Plus, he does all the setting-up stuff. I don't know any scripts or anything, really, I just log in. ^_^
