The envelope, please...
Apr. 1st, 2004 07:46 pmThick letter from Brown (yay!) and thin from Harvard. The latter was a wait-listing, not an outright rejection, but it's all okay because they can't keep me out anyways. Hello, MIT/Harvard cross-registering classes! ... Okay, kidding. Really not that heartbroken here. I'm psyched about getting into Brown, though, and I do want to visit even if odds are I'm going to end up at MIT (or WPI if the financial aid doesn't come through right). It seems like such a neat school. Unfortunately, it's looking like their big check-out-Brown program, A Day on College Hill, is on April 20th-21st, the latter of which I'm going to be spending mostly on a plane heading to Minnesota and Battlebots IQ. Blargh. (Sorry,
hecatehatesthat...) I'm going to try to work out an overnight, I think -- it'll have to be really soon, though, and if I were really bright I'd get on that right now, huh? :P
In other news, ThinkGeek has extremely amusing April Fool's Day items, particularly this one. And I was terribly disappointed to have missed this morning's (last night's? not quite sure) livejournal one.

Date: 2004-04-04 06:21 pm (UTC)My mom reminded me of this Harvard story the other day, I think you'll enjoy it: back in the days when I was applying to colleges, I got a phone call from a Harvard student -- I think it was some minority recruitment program, but anyway, he wanted to send me an application and help me with it, and I said, "No, thanks, I don't want to go to Harvard." He was flabbergasted. It was sooo funny.
No ADOCH, huh? *pout* When I went to ADOCH, I met a girl who was pretty sure she was gonna go to MIT, but she fell in love with Brown and us cool peoples while we were there. 'Course anytime you wanna visit (you must!) you're welcome to stay with me. Also, I didn't realize it's April 20-21. That's why I heart my school, yo. The 22nd is the first concert of Spring Weekend. Which means anyone staying for TWW will be on campus the day spring weekend starts, and aaaaallll the pre-frosh will get to see everyone gearing up. That rocks.

Date: 2004-04-05 06:06 pm (UTC)LMAO! That's absolutely brilliant.
Actually, I'm glad I got into Brown and not Harvard, rather than vice versa. Brown just seems like a much more interesting school. But everyone expected me to apply to Harvard, and God forbid I ever surprise them. :P
I really do want to go to ADOCH, I'm just already committed to hitting 120-lb robots with other robots in glorious Owatonna, Minnesota, home of the largest Jolly Green Giant, the largest ball of twine, and, uh, a sporting goods store that evidently gets 4 million visitors yearly, as opposed to the town's 22000 inhabitants. *g* I am looking forward to it, really, it's just so easy to mock. Er, where was I? I'll let you know (when I finally figure it out) when I'm going to do the overnight visit thing, which I'm (also) pretty psyched about. :D
Man, this college decision stuff is much more fun now that it's not just waiting and waiting and waiting...
