Oh... and I didn't say anything about responsibility. I fail to see how being responsible would make life more interesting. Quite the opposite, I think...
No, see, admitting that the important parts of what happens in my life are my choices would be like taking responsibility for my actions or complete lack thereof, and we just can't have that, right? Also I think there's something very wrong with the plurals in that sentence and I can't figure out what, it just sounds horrible. Hm.
I bet it's possible to spend one's entire life fulfilling responsibilities. Studying, brushing one's teeth after every meal, returning all mail and phone calls, keeping up to date with the war(s) and other important news, shopping (we're consumers, after all)... and that certainly wouldn't be interesting, would it? So take pride in your irresponsibility!
I had a long paragraph here about how, given the resources and opportunity, spending my whole life shopping would be a tempting idea. Then I went school shopping with an assortment of siblings before finishing writing and posting, and was reminded why I hate shopping.
Er. Yeah. I swear there was a point there somewhere.
I also wrote "Yeah, there are little, annoying responsibilities. But then there's that big, overarching Responsibility of acknowledging that one makes choices, even the choice to be passive and not make choices." However, now I can't remember where I was going with that either, putting this in the running for Most Pointless Comment Ever. I'm only posting it because otherwise I'll feel like all this typing was just a huge waste. :P
